Tokio Hotel Rocks Russia

I say finally because when Tokio Hotel were on their Welcome to the Humanoid City European tour in 2010 the only two Russian dates scheduled were both cancelled for reasons that were left unexplained. The band being in the country has been a long awaited moments for the fans.

On Thursday, Georg Listing and Gustav Schäfer we're the first to arrive in Moscow departing from Berlin. The other half of the band, the Kaulitz twins, were departing from Los Angeles were they currently live. Bill and Tom pulled a pretty stealthy move in their arrival in Moscow. They managed to evade the few hundred fans waiting at the airport and hotel by getting inside The Ritz relatively unnoticed.

Before the award show the band held a Meet and Greet for their fans and participated in the Muz-TV 2011 press conference. To the delight of people who are fans Bill's style he appeared with a slightly new look. He was very sleek and fashionable in silver, grey and camouflage. His usually tall pompadour has been slicked back, and he has a new piercing, a gold hoop on the right side of his bottom lip, which matched his other two facial piercings that were also gold.

I can honestly say the Muz-TV 2011 award show had the most entertaining red carpet I have ever seen. For one thing the carpet wasn't actually red but in fact green. There were live dancers performing in full circus-like costume and make-up dancing around the newest celebrity arrival as they walked down the carpet while being interviewed. Very busy and fun to watch.

Here is the band's arrival.

Tokio Hotel fans are used to waiting till the near end of award shows to see their beloved band and the Muz-TV Award show was no different. Except that this show was exceedingly longer than your average award show. Tokio Hotel didn't perform until about five hours after the show had started. The band was in top form as they played three of their singles, Darkside Of The Sun, World Behind My Wall and Automatic.

Here is their stage performance.
